Jesús Cisneros studied art history at the University of Zaragoza and illustration at the School of Applied Arts. He has published books with publishers in Spain, Mexico, Colombia, France, Italy, and the United Kingdom.

He taught illustration for five years at the Center for Design, Film, and Television and in the postgraduate illustration course at the UNAM (National Autonomous University of Mexico), both in Mexico City. He has also run workshops in Spain, Mexico, Germany, Korea, France, Turkey and Thailand, as well as in Italy at the Scuola Internazionale d'Illustrazione of the Štĕpán Zavřel Foundation in Sàrmede. He has held solo exhibitions in Mexico, Korea, France, and Spain.

He has won the Lazarillo Prize for Illustration, a Special Mention at the Ilustrarte illustration biennial in Lisbon, and has been selected three times for the illustrators' exhibition at the Bologna Book Fair.
