Biography
Barbora Müllerová is an illustrator, pedagogue, design researcher and curator of the biggest Czech illustration and comics festival LUSTR.
Between 2015-2021 she worked as an editor-in-chief of Fůd magazine, focused on socially oriented illustration and comics. In her curatorial praxis, Barbora focuses mainly on highlighting parallels between historical works and the youngest generation of creators, on experimental approaches and the intertwining of visual media and social or environmental issues.
She organized numerous exhibitions of graphic design, illustration and comics all around the world, within LUSTR On Tour program in Tel Aviv, Mexico City and Ljubljana, as an independent curator in ISBN gallery in Budapest, Kunsthal Gent in Belgium or Kasárna Karlín in Prague, to name a few.
As a design researcher, Barbora focuses on social and political aspects of visual culture in her PhD. The thesis finished in 2023 was based on qualitative research of strategies used by current socially engaged young illustrators and comics creators.
